SAN DIEGO – As summer heats up and San Diego restaurants become packed with tourists, Master Chef Wolfgang Puck is previewing his restaurant, Jai by Wolfgang Puck, and his award-winning catering services. By reservation only, guests are now able to preview the Asian-fusion cuisine at Jai, located at La Jolla Playhouse theater district, before its official grand opening later this summer.

"I've wanted to bring my culinary vision to San Diego for quite awhile, and Jai has allowed me to fuse my love for Asian food with the culturally rich La Jolla Playhouse," said Chef Wolfgang Puck. "Jai is leading the pack in San Diego by offering both a fine dining restaurant and on-site and off-site catering options so that San Diegans are able to enjoy fresh Asian cuisine, whether it be for an intimate dinner for two to an event for more than 1,000 people."

Incorporating the menu from Jai and presenting event favorites such as Big-Eye Tuna Tartare with Sesame Miso Cones and Kobe Burgers with Wasabi Aioli, Teriyaki Onions and Jalapeño Jack Cheese, Chef Puck's world-class catering services set the standard for dining and events. Their dedication to serving only the freshest, seasonal ingredients to create delicious ‘a la minute' cuisine is combined with impeccable service and attention to detail to provide the perfect platform for a wide range of special events in any setting.

On-site Catering - Located on the University of California-San Diego campus, Jai's light-filled dining room and inviting outdoor patio provide the perfect venue for private events. Accommodating groups of 10-135 people, Jai offers flexibility in its catering options. From renting out the entire restaurant for a larger function to the 18 seat private dining room, Jai's on-site catering provides the fine dining experience to private parties and events.

Off-site Catering - For the first time in San Diego, Wolfgang Puck Catering prepares customized cuisine from start to finish at the preferred venue of choice. Wolfgang Puck Catering dedicates a personal chef to each off-site catering event. If the customer's venue has a functioning kitchen, the chef will set up there however, if the venue does not have kitchen facilities, Wolfgang Puck Catering will bring in a mobile kitchen to make sure that the cuisine is perfectly prepared.

Bookings for on-site and off-site catering are now being accepted, in perfect time for the office summer party or getting a head start for holiday planning.

Jai (pronounced "Jay"), whose name both draws on the Thai word for "heart" and references the Chinese good luck dish, is located next to La Jolla Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Forum. Dinner hours are 5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. nightly. Reservations are required prior to the grand opening and available by calling (858) 638-7778.
